    Aspen, Colorado is the most expensive destination for tourists in the U.S.

The new study is from GOBankingRates The five most expensive U.S. vacation spots prove that you do not need to go abroad to strain your wallet. 

    To determine the most expensive cities in the United States, GOBankingRates analyzed 91 top destinations as determined by Travel + Leisure Reporting, and narrowed the list down to 55 cities. Numbeo’s Cost of Living tool and Census data were used to determine the cost for two adult visitors to spend three nights in a particular location, including meals at mid-range restaurants as well as inexpensive ones, and domestic beer. Also, average flight and hotel prices were taken into consideration. 

    It is not surprising to avid skiers that Aspen, Colorado. is the most expensive travel destination in the United States.

    The renowned for its ski resortsAspen is pricey all year long. Aspen has world-class winter skiing and scenic hiking trails and biking in summer. In the spring and fall, there are fewer people and vibrant foliage. There is also a wide range of cultural activities. According to a study, Aspen costs two people $2708 for three nights. Given how much there is to do there and how beautiful it is, it isn’t a waste of money—but you’ll certainly be spending a lot of it. Traveling to the Caribbean will cost you more than $1,000 on average. The cost of hotels and meals is around $510 for three nights.

    Florida was the most affordable state. Its cities have an average of $1,630 per person, which is slightly more than California. Where is the cheapest place to purchase a beer? Branson Missouri has the lowest average cost of $3.50. 

    The five most expensive U.S. destinations to visit are:

    1. Aspen, Colorado
    2. Santa Barbara, California
    3. Anchorage, Alaska
    4. Bar Harbor (Maine)
    5. Fairbanks, Alaska
