Resorts World Las Vegas became the first major Strip-side hotel to offer guests the option to store room keys on Apple Wallet. The move eliminates the requirement to download an app from a hotel in order to access digitally.
The Las Vegas Strip’s 3,506-room resort announced on Monday that they had introduced a technology that would reduce long lines at check-in.
Shannon McCallum is vice president of operations at ResortsWorld Las Vegas. At peak times, the lines can stretch for over 20 minutes.
The traditional mobile key system required guests to download apps from the hotel and forced them to visit the front desk to verify their keys.
Now, guests can check-in via a web page sent by email or scan a QR code. They then store their room key in their iPhone Apple Wallet. This is similar to storing event tickets or boarding passes on a mobile device.
No App Required
Apple now allows guests to store their items in the Apple Store since 2021
