    Top Summer Destinations for LGBTQ+ travelers

    • Expedia has released its Summer Travel Outlook, a report that highlights destinations that are friendly to LGBTQ+ travelers.
    • This report is based on a survey of 1,000 American LGBTQ+ travelers. It aims to identify the best city and beach destinations for summer vacations.
    • The top three countries in the list for 2025 are located in North America, Europe and Asia.

    Looking for some summer travel inspiration Where can you find other LGBTQ+ travellers, delicious food, and a friendly environment? Expedia conducted an Expedia survey of 1,000 LGBTQ+ Americans reveal their top summer 2025 travel destinations. Its Summer Travel Outlook The destinations revealed are a mixture of popular and lesser-known spots, which are gaining in popularity every year.

    “This summer, LGBTQ+ tourists are combining the comforts of favorite destinations with the thrill of discovering brand new places. Here’s the No. 1 tip when choosing your destination: check the ‘LGBTQ+ welcoming’ search filter on Expedia to find a hotel that has opted into our Inclusivity Pledge—ensuring a respectful and welcoming experience for all,” Melanie Fish, a spokesperson for Expedia, said in a release provided to Travel + Leisure. “My second tip is to ‘sandwich’ your summer travels: domestic stays are lower in June and the least busy time to fly is late August.”

    These are the top LGBTQ+  beach destinations, according to the survey:

    • Key West Florida
    • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
    • Provincetown, Massachusetts
    • Phuket, Thailand
    • Mykonos, Greece
    • Brighton, U.K.
    • Cape Town, South Africa
    • Sitges, Spain
    • Gran Canaria, Spain
    • Ibiza, Spain

    There are also plenty of urban getaways for those who aren’t into towels, sunscreen and salty hair. The most popular summer city breaks for LGBTQ+ travelers are listed below:

    • New York
    • Paris
    • San Francisco, California
    • Tokyo, Japan
    • London, U.K.
    • Barcelona, Spain
    • Vancouver, Canada
    • Amsterdam
    • Bangkok, Thailand
    • Sao Paulo, Brazil

    LGBTQ+ respondents say they are not only interested in destinations but also food: 41 percent said that nice restaurants and bars were their top choice of vacation activity, followed by shopping (36 percent) and LGBTQ+ nightlife (31%).

    Another major trend in travel? Traveling for Pride Events. At least 76 per cent of LGBTQ+ Americans planning to attend a Pride event will travel. travel outside of their hometown For the celebrations.

    “Here in the U.S, it’s no shock that LGBTQ+ powerhouses like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco topped the list—each city is rich in queer history, visibility, and non-stop celebration,” husbands and lifestyle influencers Taylor Phillips and Jeff O’Donnell said in the report. “Our best travel advice?
