    • The cabin crew snooped on a passenger in first class after he asked a question about security during a flight.
    • The flight attendants cannot discuss the aircraft security procedures.
    • Flight attendants are likely to be suspicious of passengers who ask questions like this.

Some questions are inappropriate for passengers to ask even when flying in first class.

According to an article posted on Reddit about a passenger on a red eye flight from Maui in Hawaii to Fort Lauderdale (Florida), the passenger in seat number 1B asked a question of their flight attendant which caused unwanted attention. This was reported by another passenger.

As the passenger was about to board the plane, he asked the flight attendant if there were any new security procedures.

Reddit poster reported that a passenger had said, “Hey random question but I noticed on my last few flights the FAs did block access to galley when pilots used the lavatory.” Is this a brand new procedure for your guys?

The flight attendant declined to answer, but reported this passenger to the cabin supervisor. The poster claims that the cabin supervisor approached the passenger sitting in seat 1B, asking why they wanted to know about the security procedures of the flight. The passenger was reported as saying “Oh, excuse me. I didn’t know I couldn’t ask questions.” When the cabin manager told the passenger the information could not be discussed with passengers due to security concerns.

The cabin manager was said to have responded, “I am able to answer most questions but not questions related to security on the aircraft.”

Flight attendants remain hyper-alert to suspicious behavior by passengers. This could be an indication that the passenger is trying to harm either the pilot or other passengers. Flight attendants will be alerted if a passenger is seated close to the cockpit, and asks about perceived security weaknesses.

The rest of the red-eye flight continued as usualThe pilot was not allowed to leave the plane until he got up and used the toilet. Two flight attendants blocked the access to the galley while looking directly at the passenger sitting in 1B.

The poster originally on Reddit said: “Unbelievable! This guy cannot understand why a passenger in one of two possible seats nearest to the flightdeck door would ask about obstructions to the galley.”

It is important that passengers are respectful and alert on board and do not engage in any behavior that might raise suspicions among the flight attendants.
