Hilton announced Wednesday that it has signed two new hotel contracts in Delhi Aerocity. The first is a Waldorf Astoria brand property. The other hotel will be developed under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand.

Signing in partnership with GMR Group’s Delhi International Airport Limited, the launch of both brands in New Delhi will be marked by the signing. It is the second Waldorf Astoria in India after Jaipur.

Together, these two hotels have an inventory 500 keys: 150 rooms at Waldorf Astoria, and 350 rooms at Hilton.

Chris Nassetta said that the signing was part of Hilton’s India long-term strategy. As we accelerate our growth in South Asia these landmark hotels and partnerships will play a crucial role in expanding Hilton’s portfolio, he added.

Alan Watts is the president of Hilton Asia Pacific. He said: “This signing represents another step toward our goal to double our India portfolio in a decade. We will do this by investing in infrastructure and increasing travel demand.”

Hilton’s India Ambition – Last month Hilton announced their ambitious expansion plans for India. The company currently has 32 hotels in India, with 29 others in the pipeline. If everything goes according to plan, the company will have 300 hotels in India within 10 years.

Supplementing this growth, Hilton is also planning to introduce five new Hilton brands in the country, including Curio Collection by Hilton and Signia by Hilton this year, LXR Hotels & Resorts in 2026, and Waldorf Astoria by 2028. India will be the debut market for Hilton’s entry-level Spark by Hilton brand in Asia Pacific.

Nassetta stated during the Hilton Brand Showcase in July that India was a market with greater growth potential. What’s happened in the Indian hospitality market over the last few years?
