    U.S. News & World Report recently released its Best Underrated Travel Destinations in the U.S. list—and one little-known coastal destination made the top of the list.

    If you’re still trying to decide where to go on vacation this summer—and you want somewhere relatively quiet, affordable, and under-the-radar—you’re totally not alone. Thankfully, U.S. News & World Report has you covered—it just released its annual Best Vacations rankings. One unexpected destination was the winner.

    The news publisher ranks 1,500 destinations each year in a variety of categories. One category highlights the “underrated” places around the country. The publication has a ranking system which takes into consideration readers’ ratings and the score assigned by its travel editors to each location. Travel editors score each destination across 10 categories—like culture, food, and adventure. This particular list also included other factors such as crowd size and number of things to see at each destination. 

    It named the results after evaluating all data. St. Simons IslandGeorgia is the U.S.’s most underrated destination.

    St. Simons Island, the largest barrier isle in Georgia’s Golden Isles offers everything you need for a relaxing summer vacation: miles of bike and walking trails, ice-cream shops and dozens restaurants that serve casual but delicious food. The island is a charmer with its natural beauty, local shops, and family-friendly attractions.
