    Mountain Modern Sedona

    • Within 15 minutes of the hotel, guests can drive to Sedona’s best restaurants, hikes and outdoor activities.
    • On-site programs include crystal bowl soundbaths, energy alignment sessions, mindfulness meditation and breathwork sessions, and sunrise ceremonies that are based on Indigenous tradition.
    • In the restaurant lounge, guests can listen to live music while the sun is setting.
    • This hotel is pet-friendly and has a large outdoor dog park where your companion can run around.

Mountain Modern is an adventure-driven, Wyoming-based hotel brand that has now set up camp in the American Southwest. In 2017, the first Mountain Modern outpost was opened in Jackson Hole. Now, it has expanded to Sedona to launch its second location.

Robert Nolan (co-creator) said: “Mountain Modern has a playful and approachable brand that is rooted in local experience and destination.” Travel + Leisure. “Our property offers travelers and locals alike a place to recharge, reconnect, and immerse themselves in everything that makes Sedona such a magical destination.”

As soon as I checked in at the hotel, the “wise guides” (also known as the hotel staff) gave me a detailed map of Sedona, which listed all the things I should see and do. Locals are on hand to provide insider knowledge. Mountain Modern was one of the only hotels that encouraged me to explore the area. It still managed to provide all the comforts that made me feel at home.

I was the first person to check out the newly opened Mountain Modern Sedona—here’s what it’s like to stay.

    The Rooms

A King Guest Room offers scenic views.

    Mountain Modern Sedona

Mountain Modern is a unique accommodation that strikes the perfect balance of function and style. It was designed and built by Arizona’s RSP Architects. While the design caters to the outdoor enthusiast in a practical sense—think custom gear walls with designated hooks for walking poles—subtle touches of luxury shine through in the high-end amenities from Malin+Goetz and in-room electric fireplaces.

The King Suite had more than enough space to accommodate me and my traveling companion. It featured separate king-size and queen beds, an indoor living room with a fire place, and a patio. Over my bed was a mural shot by a local of the red rock formations.

Travelers who are ultra health-conscious may choose one of two wellness suites. Each has a dedicated fitness room with a high-tech Peloton bike, and exercise equipment.

    Food and Drink

The Den is a place to enjoy comfort food (I loved the breakfast burrito), as well as Southwestern classics. At the end of the night, you can return to the full-service bar for a craft beer brewed locally or a cocktail. This space, which features daily live entertainment and a fire pit-lined outdoor pool deck, is meant to bring people together.

    Activities and Amenities

Mountain Modern Sedona offers a hot tub and outdoor pool for guests to enjoy. After a long day of outdoor activities, guests can enjoy a drink at the bar while watching the sun set over Sedona’s red rocks.

    Mountain Modern Sedona

It is known to be one of the spiritual centers of the United States, with vortex sites considered powerful energy sources and healers. Mountain Modern’s programming celebrates Sedona’s mystic vibes by offering crystal bowl sound baths and mindful meditation sessions. They also offer ceremonies that are inspired by Indigenous tradition. On my first morning, I loved visiting the pet park to set my intentions.

Guests don’t need to leave the hotel in order to get extra outdoor gear or have their bike tuned up. On-site, you can get everything your bike needs to be in top shape for a trail ride. If you want a guided tour nearby, Sedona Mountain Bike Academy (SMBA), the top-rated mountain bike experience in the Southwest, is an obvious choice. The team at SMBA was very accommodating to my needs as a novice. They tailored my experience according to my level of comfort and skill. A private outdoor play area of one acre is also free for you to enjoy with your dog.

    Location

Mountain Modern, which calls itself the “ultimate basecamp for adventure,” is an ideal starting point to explore all that Sedona has to offer. The hotel is situated in the center of Sedona. From here, guests can access hiking and biking trails that will lead them to some of America’s most stunning vistas. In less than 15 minutes, guests can reach the city’s best restaurants, art galleries and outdoor activities. You can also enjoy the most exclusive Jeep tours in Sedona. As we sped down the trail and tipped over red rock formations while making pit stops, we were able to take in the natural beauty of Sedona.
