Sicilian summers are now only a 9-hour flight from you New York City. United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and both have launched their inaugural flights into the Mediterranean island in the last week. It is now easier than ever before for US travellers to escape to the Italian coast.

United launched its new direct service between Newark Palermo will be on May 21. Through September 24, the flight will be operated three times per week by Boeing 767-400 aircraft, on Wednesdays and Fridays. Delta’s new flight from New York JFK to Catania (on the east coast Sicily) will run daily until October 24. It will use the Boeing 767-307.

Two new flights are available to Sicily. They land at different airports, located on opposite ends of the island. Catania is nearer to TaorminaThe scenic hillside village near Mount Etna made popular by White Lotus Season 2. “While most travelers will choose the route that takes them to their final destination closest, they should also consider the in-flight services offered by the airline. “For business class United offers passengers a better product on board,” says Gary LeffAviation expert and Condé Nast Traveler Top travel specialist in reference to United lie-flat Polaris seats. Delta has a different seat on its Boeing 767s. Delta One He notes, “Suites”

There’s nothing coincidental about the fact that both airlines are using older planes to fly to Sicily. Leff explains that “there has been an explosion in transatlantic and luxury leisure travel. As a result, airlines are testing flights to appeal to these businesses.” “Using older Boeing 767s can be a cheaper gamble than sending their largest and newest jets.”
