Trip.com Group’s fastest growing segment is inbound tourism, which has grown due to favorable policy reforms and increased international interest. The new China’s 240-hour transit visa policy and the visa-free access to travelers from more than 40 countries make it easier for tourists.

“In the first quarter, our inbound travel bookings surged by approximately 100% year-over-year with South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia emerging as some of the fastest-growing source markets,” said Trip.com Group Co-Founder and Executive Chairman James Liang at an earnings call on Tuesday.

Inbound hotel bookings for key visa-free nations grew by 240%. New initiatives like free city tours and multilingual offline service center upgrades, as well as new initiatives such a providing free city tours for transit travellers, were largely responsible.

Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group and director, said that the segment’s conversion rates and metrics for cross-selling were also superior to others.
