Delta One passengers can now enjoy a more luxurious European vacation.
Wheels UpAs reported first by, Delta Air Lines, a private airline backed by celebrities like Tom Brady and Kevin Durant has teamed up to offer Delta One customers a luxurious travel option for this summer. The New York Post. The collaboration enables passengers who are flying Delta One into five major European cities—Nice, France; Naples, Italy; Athens, Greece; Barcelona; and Rome—the option to board a private Wheels Up flight to reach their final destination after their commercial flight.
The new program aims to meet the growing demand for customized travel in a post-pandemic world. Private flights allow travelers to bypass crowded airports with long security lines. They can also arrive at airports shortly before departure.
Wheels Up was transformed when Delta Air Lines bought a 95 per cent stake in the Atlanta-based company in 2023. The purchase was made to stabilize Wheels Up’s finances, encourage future growth and enable the company to run one of the United States’ largest private jet fleets. Wheels Up invested in modernizing their planes since then and introduced a 72-hour flexible booking and cancellation period.
Wheels Up’s membership model is unique, as it puts digital first. Members can book private jets through a mobile app—a move in line with former CEO Kenny Dichter’s vision The “…, Open Table, Hotel Tonight, and Airbnb of private aviation.” The company has several membership levels, including the Connect membership which allows access to flight-sharing. Wheels Up does not require membership to book flights, however individual itineraries have dynamic pricing.
Delta Air Lines and a few other celebrities are also supporting the company. Brady, a brand ambassador, was an early investor in the company, and other celebrities associated with Wheels Up include country star Darius Rucker and ESPN commentator Scott Van Pelt.
Wheels Up is also using celebrity-driven marketing for good. Wheels Up, the New York Giants and Russell Wilson will launch Meals Up 2020. This initiative will provide millions of meals. in partnership with the non-profit Feeding America. The company has also recently launched a sustainability program. Sustainable Aviation Fuel program Delta allows customers to support SAF purchases, which generate dramatically less carbon emissions than traditional aviation jet fuel.
