The home rental website published its report on summer travel trends for 2025 in late April. The company states that travelers are more interested in local experiences and flavors than ever before. These Are the Top Trending Food Destinations for Summer 2025—From Italy to Upstate New York
Airbnb revealed that “globally, 1 in 5 guests chose Airbnb as their accommodation of choice because they wanted to experience a local vacation.” This summer, travellers are choosing to avoid summer crowds, and instead opt for local, affordable foodie locations.
Airbnb cited Panterra’s survey, which revealed that almost half (47%) of travelers “prioritize local food as their top experience.”
Airbnb went one step further and showcased its trending foodie locations, including Alassio, ItalyIt is a coastal resort that “offers an experience similar to Positano with its vibrant culinary scene, centered on the fresh seafood and wild herbs from the region, as well a famous extra-virgin oil DOP Riviera Ligure.”

Named Marloth Park, South AfricaRawai in Thailand, for fresh seafood, local ingredients and more, is a must-visit destination. Santa Teresita Argentina, for global bites that “incorporate influences from Italian, Spanish and other European cultures.”
You don’t need to grab your passport if you want a trip that is centered around food. Airbnb was also mentioned Oneonta, New York The Catskills is a hidden gem in the Catskills with many breweries and a wide variety of dining options. It’s also a place that focuses on local ingredients.
