GoBankingRates published its findings in late April ranking the most affordable cities to live that also have a significant population increase. Frisco in Texas took the top spot after analyzing all the data.
Methodology
The team calculated the changes in one and five years using the Census American Community Surveys from 2018, 2022 and 2023. (GoBankingRates noted that “to qualify for this study, the city had to have a total population of at least 100,000, a 1-year and 5-year population growth larger than the national growth rate … and an average rental cost or average mortgage cost lower than the national average.) The Federal Reserve Economic Data and Sperling’s BestPlaces were also used, as well as data from Zillow’s Observed Rent Index and Zillow Home Value Index. It then used the median income of homeowners, and the total cost for living of renters to calculate how much money renters could save. It was Frisco in Texas that topped the list after analyzing the data.
In the findings, it was declared that “Frisco is Texas’s fastest-growing and most affordable city.” In just five years, the city’s population has grown by 26.9 per cent. Renters pay $46,718 per year, while homeowners pay $72,262 per year.
Frisco, a smaller area of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, has a population of approximately 225,000. According to the website, there is something for everyone.
