This year I was determined to pay more attention to my sleep, and the overall recovery of my body. I was noticing that my energy levels were changing due to stress and seasonality, so I wanted to get a better understanding of how I sleep. I thought about purchasing the Oura Ring, but I wasn’t ready to commit to the subscription service—in came the Ultrahuman ring that gave me everything I wanted without having to continuously dish out money every year or month. The ring is very stylish, but a little heavier than I expected. Before buying, I received both a ring sizer kit and a sample of the color I wanted to see if it would fit me.
Every morning I receive my sleep score, which includes a detailed breakdown of my sleeping habits, including how often I turned over, whether I woke up or not, when my heart rate dropped and if my temperature increased or decreased. The menstrual tracker is another of my favorite features. It’s accurate (within a few days) when compared to the other cycle trackers that I have used. I chose the metallic color as I thought it would be less noticeable. But I can confirm that the color is more scuffed, even though I spent time rubbing them out.
The app is not subscription-based, but the team regularly updates it to make it easier to use and compile more information. The app’s large log of workouts and activities makes it an ideal option for active people. I would not wear it when strength training though as it can be uncomfortable.
Pros: No subscription is required
Cons: Bluetooth connection is touchy depending on color. Scuffs can be visible.
