New York is one of the few cities that can tell a story better than any other city. Ask 10 New Yorkers what their favorite bar is, and you are likely to get at least the same number of answers. On any given night in New York, you can see a thousand different versions of the city: a jazz group is playing in Bed-Stuy while across the river a bunch of twenty-somethings spill onto the sidewalk of a Manhattan club. Couples are enjoying a date night in a nearby wine bar. They’re debating whether to order a skin-contact bottle or a pinot. In Chelsea, an excited group of girls is shaking ice-cold martinis, while in Greenpoint, Japanese whisky cocktails with hand-chipped, iced ice are poured. The city is a place where a thousand people may be having completely different evenings, but all feel the same electric hum.
It’s easy, even in the best way, to become overwhelmed by all of the options. We scoured New York City to find the most exciting places for drinks. Here are the top bars in New York City.
